The two North American congeners of Chalcoscirtus diminutus are boreal, ground dwelling spiders. The present species, while not boreal, has been found in leaf litter and taken in pitfall traps. I observed several of these spiders moving up and down the siding of a small cottage indicating that individuals do, at times, leave their terrestrial habitat. Along with the "long white clypeal fringe" noted by Edwards, the individuals I have seen (all males) show a distinct white border at the front edge of the abdomen otherwise broadly covered with indistinct white and rust-colored markings.
