Bredana alternata Gertsch, 1936 - Jumping Spider
Gertsch published a description of only the female Bredana alternata in his 1936 paper. Along with his description the author noted the following:
TYPE LOCALITY. Female holotype from fifteen miles southwest of
Harlingen, Texas, taken November 18, 1934, by Mr. Stanley Mulaik.
This species may not belong in Bredana but as the agreement is good
in many characters and the epigyna are similar, it is placed here for the present.
No habitus drawings accompanied Gertsch's paper and subsequently virtually no other images or accounts have been published. The female Bredana alternata shown in the video was collected by GB Edwards in a thornscrub tract at Resaca de la Palma S.P. in Brownsville, Texas - also approximately 15 miles southwest of Harlingen, TX.
